About the Job Opportunity
Each Educational Connections' (EC) tutor represents a unique combination of talent, achievements, and aspirations. We ensure that all our instructors have the opportunity to bring their individual styles and attributes to the job, because we believe that the best teachers are those who take personal pride in their work.

We expect that our instructors be excellent communicators, positive motivators, and exude warmth and compassion for their students. In return, we grant our instructors considerable flexibility and autonomy. This means that while we provide training opportunities and ongoing support from a highly experienced management team, we also offer tutors the freedom and responsibility to utilize their experience and instincts in creating the ideal program for each student.

Most EC tutors work anywhere from 4 to 10 hours per week, and all instructors determine their own schedules. Our relationships with schools and education professionals and our reputation in the community mean that EC instructors work with a steady stream of clients. Naturally, meeting with students in their homes means that lessons typically take place in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Students also have additional availability during the summer and break periods. We have opportunities for instructors throughout the Washington DC area; however, the majority of our business is in Northern Virginia.

The starting tutoring rate depends on teaching experience and background. We provide ongoing professional development opportunities to further extend both your capabilities and your job satisfaction. Educational Connections also provides you with industry leading technology to maximize your teaching time and minimize your administrative tasks. Our EC Link software interconnects management, tutors, students, and parents so that you have 24-hour a day access to your client information, your lesson notes, your students' practice tests, your calendar, your payroll, and feedback from your directors.

About You
Candidates for this position should:

• possess both an engaging, dynamic personality and a professional demeanor
  

• enjoy working one-on-one with students and parents to create a positive environment
  

• have classroom teaching experience or extensive tutoring experience
  

• be committed to fulfilling their obligation to any students that they accept. Although this tutoring opportunity is ongoing, our current hiring needs require a commitment at least through June of 2011.
  

This position requires travel to students' homes in your area, so reliable transportation and a flexible schedule are firm requirements.
